To start this off I'll go with the most recent.

My son loves fire trucks so I gave him a fire truck birthday.

It started with a fire truck cake

Featuring cookie wheels, roof lights, headlights, taillights,  windows, ladder and hose.

The cake was a simple chocolate cake, nice and moist which I baked in a loaf pan and then trimmed for a more fire truck shape. I would have preferred it to be taller and a little shorter so next time I'm going to layer. Vanilla frosting dyed red.

Usually I would coordinate a birthday cake with cupcakes or another cake but he prefers cookies to any other baked good so I made a platter of complementary cookies.

Basic fire trucks, dalmations, axes, fire, wheels, and buckets of water.
All sugar cookies, my son's favorite.

These were my first foray into crafting cookie shapes with out a cookie cutter so they're a little interesting. The dog shapes and the plain fire trucks were both done with cookie cutters thought the dalmation's ears and spots were added.

In the end my son loves cookies way more than cake so he mostly ate those and I think I have maybe one cookie left now.

The beginning of a blog

I enjoy making my jar cakes but they're not the only part of baking I enjoy. Decorating is not my strong point at the moment but I'm working on it.

My baking started with my decision to always bake my kids' birthday cakes. Eventually it branched to other things such as cookies, muffins, and of course cake jars.

I have yet to meet a baked good recipe I won't try.

A blog seems like the best way to show the other things I do other than my jars.
